General Question

Is there a techy version of Fluther?

Asked by creativejuices (490points) April 8th, 2009

I find that a lot of technical questions don’t get answered. IE questions that follow the “Help me resolve this issue: (aka legit questions)” policy. Don’t get me wrong, I love Fluther. BUT are there some other sites like Fluther that you go to to get really specific questions about web development, photography, flash, html, xml etc… answered??

For all my computer questions I go to Ars. It is a lot better then Fluther for tech questions.

I tend to ask web development and sysadmin questions both on Fluther and Stack Overflow.

Thanks guys, this is exactly the type of response I was hoping for!

Probably the xkcd forums as well, though I haven’t tried them out. And IRC is often very helpful as well :)

If you have a math question, a good place to go is Cambridge University’s NRICH site.

There are several competent technical people here; this is a good place to start if you want to ask a technical question.

@cwilbur: I followed those guidelines, but did not gat any results. Maybe its just not the right place for a SQL XML question.

You could try including more tags on your questions – SQL was missing from the last one, as was web development, etc. Tags are how Fluther flags your question for the appropriate people, so the more tags the better!

@benseven: I was not “calling” anything out but I just wanted the collectives opinion on other tech specific sites that I could visit for help of specific questions regarding Flash and other issues. If I have another question to ask I will be sure to exhaust the tagging possibilities. Thanks for the suggestion! I will do some research to get better tagging options.
