Xp sp3 Home group error?

Recently I picked a new HP mini 1000 netbook that is running xp sp3.
at first i could access off of my home groups just peachy but after installing some automatic updates whenever i go to view my home group it will timeout and recive an error this will do the same on any network i try this on….
any help at all would be greatly apreciated

Revert back to last known working state see if it happens , if it works peachy again then you know it was the last update that need to be taken out .
