What music do you run to?

Asked by rooeytoo (26981points) April 12th, 2009

There was just a question that asked what music you like to dance to and it made me think of the music that I like to run to. If it is something really rockin I have more energy. I like CCR, Rolling Stones, a little CC Music Factory, Journey, Bruce Springsteen, Brian Adams. The list goes on and on. I only allow myself to listen to this stuff, I keep it on an iPod shuffle, when I run so it is a little extra incentive to get out the door.

@srmorgan: Oh it is!! You know how it be—gotta stay fly and sexy!

actually I usually only get through a little over half of any given playlist in one run, but I still like them to be long so that if I feel like skipping a lot of the songs, I still have plenty more to choose from

I haven’t heard Supersonic in years. Cool! I don’t run, though. I don’t enjoy it one bit.

Wow, y’all have come up with a lot I have never even heard of, I will be hitting the iTunes store this afternoon to have a listen.

@aprilsimnel – It’s not my favorite thing either but it keeps the waistline somewhat under control.

I just finished a mini triathlon, 10k ride, 5k run, 400 m swim. I love the sense of accomplishment when it is over and I truly enjoy beating people 20 years my junior!!!

I personally hate running to music. When I’m running I like to do a lot of pondering and I find it difficult to do that with music blasting in my ears.

Hip-Hop or anything upbeat! I’m more of a cyclist though, but that is besides the point!

Kanye West
Akon
Eminem
T-Pain
T.I.
etc…

aviona's avatar

@classyfied I go through phases with music. Sometimes I’ll despise it and need to silence and the sound of my own breath. Lately I’ve needed the motivation, though.

LCD sounsystem
franz ferdinand
chemical Brothers
Fatboy Slim

@classyfied me too. And the music makes it obvious how far I’ve gone and how far I still have left to go. But on the rare times I do listen, I like silly empowering music, like Bootylicious and Sexy Back.

I only run if being chased, and the way I perceived this question was ‘running to music’ to get away, to escape troubles, worries, etc. The music I run to is mostly jazz. I love good instrumental jazz, and also instrumental classical. I don’t need music with words, I can get words anywhere.

C&C Music Factory?!?

The jam is live in effect
and I don’t waste time
Off the mic with a dope rhyme

jump to the rhythm jump jump to the rhythm jump

And I’m here to combine beats and lyrics
To make you shake your pants
take a chance
Come on and dance guys grab a girl
don’t wait make the twirl
It’s your world and I’m just a squirrel
Trying to get a nut
to move your butt
to the dance floor

So you what’s up hands in the air
come on say yeah

Hell. Now I wanna go run.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@robmandu run or work at a steel factory?

robmandu's avatar

Throw a little M.A.R.S. in that mix and I likely could run all day.

Automatic, systematic, world control
Magnetic, genetic, to match your soul.
