Can I connect an external hardrive to my xbox 360 via USB and watch the movies it contains on my television through the xbox?

I’m 95% sure that you can. I’ve done it with an flash disk drive, worked perfectly.

Yes, as long as the videos are supported to play on the Xbox (MP4, DivX, Windows Media, etc)
