What song did you walk down the aisle to?

We’re getting married in August and are struggling to choose a song. If you were getting married soon what would you choose?

Chopin’s 3rd movement of his Piano Sonata No 2 in B flat minor op.35 (but only in my head)

I believe it was just the Bridal Chorus.

I don’t know what songs they played, but I hired a string quartet. My only request was that they didn’t play the typical here comes the bride song. It was so beautiful. The church was very old and tiny (I chose the chapel over the huge “modern” church) and live music just made it perfect.

Mine was just “Here comes the Pride, but my daughter walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s canon in D Major quite possibly the most beautiful song ever written and obviously inspired by angels. :-)

jbfletcherfan's avatar

Just the plain old wedding march.

@Judi we used Pachelbel as part of our processional, too. I think the moms were walked down to that. I know that we used a couple of different pieces depending on the who was coming down the aisle.

@galileogirl ; That bad hu?

I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D played by an acoustic guitarist.

@uberbatman were you the one that told me in chat to use that song? :) And I told you that we were using the music from Braid for Xbox 360?

El_Cadejo's avatar

@3or4monsters no, but thats fucking awesome :)

We didn’t have music. We just had the breeze through trees. It was nice. :)

galileogirl's avatar

@Judi I kept thinking “SOMEBODY SPEAK ‘NOW’”

bea2345's avatar

I can’t remember. There may have been piped music – it was a register office in Cheshire.

YARNLADY's avatar

@laureth So, we weren’t the only ones. That just what I was going to say, the rustle of the leaves, gentle sound of the ocean surf, the birds and bees, that’s all we had.

Aw Shit! That was what the organist said when the organ blew a circuit just as the bride started down the isle. after that it was just the beautiful voices of every laughing.

Pachelbel’s Canon for me too. @Judi is right – it’s definitely the most beautiful song ever written, and I’ve loved it since the first time I heard it. I know a lot of people use it for their weddings, but it’s so perfect, it doesn’t seem unoriginal.

We had a fabulous pianist who played two different variations for us – a slower, floaty sort of one for the processional, and a more up-tempo one for the recessional. Beautiful!

That must have been some reception!
