Do you think ambition subsides as a person gets older?

I was highly ambitious & competitive when I was in my 20’s, I had a lot of financial/material goals & was willing to really put forth the effort to accomplish them. But now that I am older, I find that I am content with much less than I thought that I ever would be, & have no real ambition(s) other than to be a person who looks for the best in people & enjoys what little that I do have, simple pleasures like flower gardening, reading, painting, & enjoying my family.
