Need to copy files from AppleTV to my Mac. Possible?

The external hard drive I use to store all my music/movies failed, and the only other place where these files are backed up is on my AppleTV. Is there a way to copy the files from my AppleTV to my Mac?

If you legally purchased them from the apple store a call to apple should allow you to repurchase the songs and movies at no charge (apple is cool like that). If not you will have to either open your apple tv and place the hard drive in an enclosure and copy them back to your computer or if your very tech savvy there is a way to ssh into you apple tv.
