What are some good underground bands?

Atmosphere – Which Unfortunately is a little more mainstream now.

Felt (which is the main dude from Atmos, and Murs)

Eyedea and Abilities

Sage Francis
Onebelo

Those are my FAV’s
(all hiphop, and all brilliant.)

Classifying music is so subjective, but I think The New Pornographers are still considered indie. I’m less certain of The Shins and Margot & The Nuclear So & So’s, but its all great music. See ya…wtf

Not a specific band recommendation, but I find that checking out music sites like Pandora and Last.fm are great for finding new-to-you bands. Those allow you to enter a band or song you already like, and they generate a station based on your selection with many different artists (and they’re free to listen to online).

i use Pandora too, its a great site

Pandora is only available for americans nowadays. It was very good. Prefer Spotify though.
