How do I prune a Gloxinia?

Asked by Daethian (334points) May 25th, 2009

Its only growing in a single stem but now that it bloomed the stem is too weak to hold itself upright. Can I prune it back without killing it?

Remove the spent flowers by carefully cutting them off at the base of the stem. Watch the leaves though they are brittle and won’t tolerate abuse without going brown and ugly

I need to cut it back further than that or it will continue to flower on a weak stem. I want to prune it back and force it to go out instead of up until it’s stronger.
