Greatest albums of all time (preferably rock-ish)?

I’m looking to build my music collection, and need suggestions. My father has a massive vinyl collection that I am in the process of digitizing, but I wanted suggestions on what I should make sure to have.

I like such a wide variety of music that I can’t really say who my favorite artists are. I love almost all kinds of rock, although I am a little iffy on southern rock and heavy heavy metal. I’ll listen to almost anything from the early 60’s until today. Although I feel music quality has really sucked in the last decade.

It might help you to see my last.fm page, just to get a glimpse at what I like. My tastes are rather “eclectic,” I guess you could say.

If any fellow Flutherite suggests an album, I’ll be sure to check it out. You all seem to have great taste in music in many other threads!

EDIT: I should add that I have the entire discographies of The Beatles, NIN, Van Halen, Kiss and Aerosmith but since I asked for great albums, feel free to suggest any made by those bands if you feel they belong =)
