What's the best way to clean a deep fat fryer?

Asked by Myndecho (948points) May 30th, 2009

Someone left it on and there is oil stuck to the side and is almost impossible to get off, does anyone know of any tips off how clean is your house, or any that you just know of?

I’d go with finding some sort of restaurant/industrial strength degreaser and let that badboy soak.

In the restaurant we would fill them with de-greaser and turn them on to boil them, then scrape, scrape, scrape.

I’m not sure if I would recommend this we had excellent ventilation in the kitchen the fumes from the boiling degreaser could be pretty nasty.

Maybe try the same thing with something acidic like lemon juice or vinegar?
