How do I hook up videogame systems to my computer moniter?

Asked by pplufthesun (617points) December 29th, 2007

I have a BIG wide screen monitor for my computer and I want to know how to hook up video game consoles to it to play them. Is this even possible? What cables are needed?

You can do it. It just depends on what you have. Could you please let us know exactly what hardware you have.

Hi There,

It is dependent on the inputs on your computer monitor. What video console are you trying to hook up? Let me know what type of inputs you have on your computer monitor, as well as what console you would like to hook up. If you have multiple consoles, you will need to include this information as well.

They are asking about the type of inputs on the display. HDMI, VGA, DVI, etc.

You will want to use component cables from the Wii, but It is unlikely that your computer display has component inputs, so you need some type of converter. I think you knew that though.

A quick google search brought up some converters that might do the trick, but I don’t know how well that sort of conversion works, if at all.

Best of luck.

Thanks for jumping in ryanconsidine. Pplufthesun, he is correct with his answer. There are also topics within this forum that do discuss hooking up the wii to a computer monitor. You will need a converter, and I am sure you can buy one. Good luck!
