What is a great hotel in Malibu, California?

I’m looking for something on the beach and upscale.

There are only two hotels in Malibu, CA, The Malibu Hotel , at $150 a nite and up which is anything but upscale, and Malibu Beach Inn at $350 and up. Just keep in mind that Malibu is nothing like you see on TV. It is a long, dry stretch of highway, with wall to wall houses on the ocean side for the very, very rich, and very little else. There is one small shopping mall, and that is it.
