Heal the world, make it a better place, for me and for you and the entire human race.

As Michael Jackson said, “if you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make a change”- man in the mirror

Wasn’t it Obama who said: ‘we are the change we seek”?

WE can recycle and be nice! =)

Get out and volunteer. Go clean up a dirty road. Do these things make the world a better place? Debatable, but if it makes you feel better, do them.

Remember that you don’t have to make a huge change.

A closely related discussion is here.

A Zen teacher once said, “If you can make yourself less of a problem to others, that is a great gift.” The AA folks say to hold up your hand in front of your face like a mirror: the only thing you can change is on this side of it. Jesus said that before you can cast out the little speck in your brother’s eye, you have to cast out the log of wood that’s in yours. Those messages are the same. We have to work on ourselves, each of us. What comes out of that may be good for many.

Here’s what I believe: each of us has been given a patch of the world to look after.

Our little patch of the world includes ourselves: our talents; our foibles; our circumstances. It also includes certain people: friends; family; neighbours; colleagues… enemies…?

If we “tend” our little patch with love: watch out for people; be encouraging; be kind; listen to them – if we each do this, and if we inspire others to do the same, we will start a growing patchwork of “tended patches” of the world.

So if we each make our place a better place,
The World will end up being a better place.
