Why is DoubleClick so important for digital campaigns?

Can someone please tell me why DoubleClick is so important to track digital media campaigns. Most of the websites use reliable ad tracking servers so what good will tracking on DC do for me? I mean, aren’t the results of the campaign going to be the same on DC that the websites will provide me?

DoubleClick’s importance comes less from its tracking capabilities and more from the ad serving benefits imo. It will give you metrics about your audience that you may not already know as well as allow you to serve things like expanding banners.
