Is Tivo's OS located on the hard drive?

I would think so. However, if I’m correct, it is probably hidden on an encrypted partition of the HDD, making it hard to fix or replace unless you really know what you’re doing. What part of your Tivo broke?

@aanuszek1 I would imagine it is something simple like the power supply, and it is probably more work than it is worth to try to salvage this one (I’ve had it since ‘04). With the new HD tivos so cheap now, it might just be a good idea for me to cough up some dough for a reliable one with a warranty.
