Hikes and places to stay in Joshua Tree in late January?

Going to LA in late January and thinking of driving out to Joshua Tree for some hiking. It will be too cold to camp. Any cool places to stay(on the cheaper side)? Also, any particular hikes you would recommend?

I’ve only ever camped. But Joshua Tree is so awesome, and you should make sure to hike among the boulders.
