Rage Against The Machine

pick a song

Jeruba's avatar

I’ll tell you mine, and you might try them even if you’re not into classical:

“The Ride of the Valkyries” by Wagner—loud and crashing—drums, cymbals, brass, horses neighing, battle roar—everything.

Carmina Burana by Karl Orff, and especially “O Fortuna.” I always feel wrung out afterward.

On a completely different note, there’s Marilyn Manson, which is some of the angriest sound I have ever heard.

jonsblond's avatar

@Jeruba lurve for Manson. very nice

applesaucemanny's avatar

I listen to anything by Trivium

syz's avatar

I usually find Marilyn Manson kinda silly – he’s trying sooo hard to be shocking.

augustlan's avatar

American Idiot or Moral Majority (or is it I Wanna’ Be a Minority?) – Green Day.

Jeruba's avatar

Thank you, @jonsblond. Classical in his own way, and very intelligent. (@syz, I am speaking only of sound, not appearance.)

vegelizabeth's avatar

When keeping it real goes wrong – Emmure &
Composure – August Burns Red :)

Tink's avatar

Korn, Rage Against The Machine, Disturbed, Trivium maked me even more mad, sorry

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@Jeruba oh yeah, Ride of the Valkyries is the best, but then, so is Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman, or Holst’s Mars, the Bringer of War from the Planets. There are a lot of good rage songs in the classical sphere, including Night on Bald Mountain by Mussgorsky, and some of Liszt’s works are pretty heavy, too.

SeventhSense's avatar

Tool is awesome for working through emotion.

vegelizabeth's avatar

Also, how could i not add, Entombment Of A Machine – Job For A Cowboy

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

Tool is one of the few modern bands I’ll listen to.

Likeradar's avatar

Pretty Hate Machine by NIN. It’s the single best angry album ever.

Also, Israel’s Son by Silverchair. Yeah, Silverchair.

Tink's avatar

I’ll try to hear every song you guys suggest

Tink's avatar

Arma mother fucken godden, or something like that by Marilyn Manson is great

Tink's avatar

Man here come the tears :..(

jrpowell's avatar

You might like Propagandhi too. On that page there is links two a few mp3s from each of their albums. I would start here.

edit :: and Scary Kids Scaring Kids

kenmc's avatar

@Likeradar Silverchair is a very underrated band. And that song is one of my favorites from them!

mzdesigns's avatar

SeventhSense's avatar

@Tink1113
Awww it’s OK. Let it out..
no drinks young lady!

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@mzdesigns JD, that’s the turpentine of whiskey. You’re better off with the good stuff, like Crown Royal or at least Black Velvet.

Tink's avatar

@johnpowell I was actually listening to Scary Kids Scaring Kids before the post :)
@mzdesigns -Drank some tequilla

Likeradar's avatar

@boots They really are, aren’t they? I kinda love them, but try to keep it to myself.

mzdesigns's avatar

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

life is too short to drink cheap booze.

Tink's avatar

I’m not supposed to drink but hey, they don’t have to find out

SeventhSense's avatar

@Tink1113
You’re too young to be drinking.
I’m sorry, but I’m playing Dad whether you like it or not

quasi's avatar

Melt Banana.

kenmc's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra But my wallet isn’t thick enough to drink expensive booze!

Tink's avatar

@SeventhSense Yeah well I’m too young to do most of the things I did

mzdesigns's avatar

just curious….......what are some good songs when your “not enraged”

mzdesigns's avatar

hey , were in a recession he needs to drink cheaply and responsibly.

Tink's avatar

I’m a girl

mzdesigns's avatar

mzdesigns's avatar

jrpowell's avatar

edit :: more alexisonfire

jonsblond's avatar

Does Avril Lavigne have the “angst” you are looking for?

my apologies for the quality of the video, I searched for the past half hour!

Likeradar's avatar

@SeventhSense Can’t believe I didn’t mention Tool. My super-fan card is being revoked.

quasi's avatar

Henry Rollins gets pretty enraged in this video.

mzdesigns's avatar

ok here’s some orange juice.

vegelizabeth's avatar

@johnpowell – we have some pretty similar taste ! Alexisonfire and Scary kids scaring kids !

The_Compassionate_Heretic's avatar

There’s two directions you can go here.

1. Get even more angry : Requires Toxicity by System of a Down.
2. Calm down and chill : Requires Sea Change by Beck.

I prefer option #2.

Tink's avatar

2.
But I like #1

The_Compassionate_Heretic's avatar

@jonsblond Marley is securely in that #2 spot with Beck. Also a great call

Jeruba's avatar

@Tink1113, tell us when you’re ready for something mellow and soothing. The calm that follows the storm.

Here is one of my favorite found online images: “Rainy Day Ending over Clear Lake.”

Tink's avatar

I’m ready :) and sweet as can be

Bobbilynn's avatar

Tool! Anytime all the time!

jonsblond's avatar

@Bobbilynn Tool. My favorite band. :)

augustlan's avatar

@Jeruba Beautiful picture!

Jeruba's avatar

Thank you. I wish I had taken it.

Where are the mellow suggestions? I favor Debussy’s La Mer for situations like this, but there must be something in the popular vein that will do for Tink.

augustlan's avatar

Try Norah Jones for mellow.

johnny0313x's avatar

I’d give Toxic by Britney Spears but the metal version a try lol

Tink's avatar

You know what @Jeruba and @augustlan I’ll listen to classical music just for the two of you guys :)

Tink's avatar

@johnny0313x Is there really one?

johnny0313x's avatar

Yes ha, well Britney doesn’t really sing it but here you go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvUpF_OGPso

and baby one more time….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-9P8nKkd7s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwZPUC9tHwg – or with britney’s vocals if you prefer ha

augustlan's avatar

@Tink1113 Norah Jones isn’t classical. Bluesy/raspy and mellow as hell, though. :)

Tink's avatar

@augustlan Hehe I just found out, it is nice and mellow though

CMaz's avatar

PUBLIC ENEMY – FIGHT THE POWER

Jeruba's avatar

Thanks, @Tink1113, I’m pleased! Tell us what you think after those selections. Are you feeling better today?

Tink's avatar

Yes today seems a bit better than yesterday, and Debussys La Mer II is like intense and stuff : )
I liked it

Jeruba's avatar

Intense, hmm. I hear it as ocean waves gently rolling with the sun sparkling and glinting on the crests—very elemental and deeply settling. (“La mer” means “the sea.”)

Tink's avatar

I think it was that one but all of a sudden it gets like loud and fast
