So I can't connect my new XP machine to the internet...

Asked by zarnold (708points) July 13th, 2009

I just installed windows xp SP3 on a new computer, and the realtek ethernet card isn’t cooperating. I installed the driver and everything, and sometimes webpages will half-load, but that’s it. It’s very similar to this problem, but none of those solutions seem to work. Has anybody else had this issue? I keep getting the “network cable unplugged” or “limited or no connection” notices periodically. Thanks!

Is it a new Internet box? If it’s not the problem is with the box, I had a similar problem as this a while ago. The Ethernet light was blinking red, and we didn’t have Internet, so my mom called the company and they came to replace it because it wasn’t working. So call and so they can go and see what’s wrong with it. And if they do need to replace it, they are going to make you pay for it. It was like 80$ only

I would call your service provider. It might be a error on there part.
