Anyone had a uterine ablation? Would you recomend the process?

I’m considering the procedure but I’ve never spoke to anyone who has had it – anyone been through it?

I know of two women who have had it, one close to my age (I’m 23) and one close to my mothers age (in her early 40s)
Both women said it was the best thing they ever did, because of the severe bleeding they were experience. My mother opted not to get it done, and received a hysterectomy instead, because of endometriosis spreading onto her intestines. But, she did consider it.
My mother’s friend says she was half asleep when they put her legs straight up in the air in the stirrups, and then she woke up later and wasn’t in pain. She then discovered bruises on her butt…still unsure about those. But, her excessive bleeding went away!
And my younger friend was told she could still have children (she has one) but I’m pretty sure you don’t want children…or I could be remembering incorrectly
Does your doctor recommend one for you? Is it because of excessive bleeding? I would try to find the cause if you can. My mother had a sonohysterograph and that helped discover her female problems.

I considered it for a while too, but didn’t do it. I just had other concerns and didn’t get around to seeing a doctor about it, and now my problem has worked itself out. But while I considered it, I spoke to a few people who said it was the best thing they could have done, and they were very happy with the results.

They said the pain was moderate and didn’t last too long after.

You are correct, I don’t plan to have children (and have had a tubal ligation). My bleeding is not always excessive, but it occurs about every two weeks, which has become a serious “quality of life” issue. Regulating with birth control pills isn’t a good option because even the mini-pill makes me sick as dog. I’m going to start talking to my health insurance provider to see if it’s an option, and then make a decision.
