Is there a way to transfer iPhone game saves?

Asked by TheRocketPig (612points) July 17th, 2009

Hey all,

I was just wondering if there was any way to transfer saves between iPhones. For example, if I wind up getting a 3Gs, is there any way to keep my saves?

Thanks.

If you plug in your iPhone and back it up, the game may save it’s data to your computer, then if you ever change devices you can add it all back, with your applications.

Back up your iPhone, go into iTunes preferences, and there you should see all your backed up data. Chances are that if a game is in there, that you’ll have the saves.

(Not all games are created equal, some application developers may hide it, or store it another way)

When you use the standard iTunes transfer it installs the apps on a fresh state, the only way I can imagine would be to make a disk image of your iphone and apply it to your new iPhone. Currently this is very difficult if not impossible and your standard apps would be very unreliable
