Search for a successful tell-a-friend campaign?

Asked by rikkrispijn (6points) July 22nd, 2009

I’m looking for a tried and tested tell-a-friend campaign. Who has got a successful method for me to copy?

We are running a small company in The Netherlands, selling design furniture to consumers, mostly via internet and also in our store in Den Haag.
In order to reach critical mass our objective is to multiply or triple our existing customer base. We think to do that by running a simple tell-a-friend campaign via e-mail.

The most successful tell-a-friend campaigns are always the ones that offer incentives. For example, if a customer refers a friend, and that friend makes a purchase, then the original customer would get either a small sum of money, say $20, or a discount on a future purchase. Those kinds of programs tend to work really well. It’s essentially bribery, but it works. That’s my best suggestion.

I agree with @lillylithium.. it is the most used and successful known tell a friend campaign.. Anything that offer incentives, referral incentives as what they call it.. Maybe a gift card, gift certificate, coupon, or a free product, or a great discount at your store.. Even radio stations do that, they usually say, “If you mention DJ John sent you, you get 10 percent off on your next purchase”. Good luck :)
