If you’ll continue to have that time available to take naps, why not? Naps are one of life’s simple pleasures.

I don’t take them because then at “nap time” at work or school, I get really sleepy.

I think they’re a bad habit to get into, but I still love ‘em

I have a blog that was intended to promote napping. It is pretty much dead now. We are busy napping.

No, I don’t think they are bad. Find your optimal nap time (if you go past that, you wake up groggy).

Also, you don’t want to nap so long it impacts your sleep at night.

And so people know. I was not making a joke. PnL and Allie are also responsible for the train-wreck.

Yea if you do it during working hours!

I just woke up from my nap. It wasn’t bad at all.

I hate napping. I’m one of few, I know, but for some reason I just detest sleeping during the day unless I’m sick. I’ll lie in bed and veg, but I can’t sleep till 10pm at the earliest. I also usually have nightmares (daymares?) if I sleep during the day, which I guess could be part of my aversion to napping!

I don’t think it’s actually bad for you though, especially if you do like @Marina says and make it a regular time and regular length and can still sleep at night. :)

Naps in the evening for not more than an hour is perfectly fine and in fact i do believe it helps to refresh ones mind. Nap more than that and you will find yourself feeling groggy and also it affects your actual sleeping time.

How can something that makes you feel so good be bad :-)

Why don’t we ask @whatthefluther ??? I hear he takes those :)

I don’t think they are bad, sure they mess up your sleeping schedule but you can always go back to it. I know I do :)

Naps are one of the great joys of life. Ask a cat.

I am looking forward to being free to take them. At present I average two or three a year.

I don’t normally nap. I’m a short sleeper at night, probably averaging 4 to 5 hours a night. Every once in a while I will take a nap and wake up feeling like crap. I’m on a long weekend from work and thought I’d nap today. I woke up in a gripe with a headache. My husband though takes a nap probably everyday. He is a person that requires a lot of sleep. I guess it’s alright to nap if you need to.

When I was younger I hated napping. However, now that the machinery is beginning to rust I have found that a nice nap in the afternoon is a wonderful thing. In fact, I took one today. With any luck I can take one tomorrow, too.

Now my parents nap more frequently than that, but then they are in their 8th decade of life and they can pretty much do what they want.

I always take an afternoon nap on the weekends. It is usually between one p.m.and four p.m., and I sleep about an hour or so. Even though I nap on the weekends, it doesn’t affect my work week, because I am on a different schedule Monday thru Friday. It’s weird how I can do that, but I do and I guess that’s all that matters.
