Does the 'Omniscient' crave uncertainty,and is existence a result of this 'craving'?

Asked by lloydbird (8740points) July 25th, 2009

If one can accept the idea of an ‘All Knowing’ entity (God) don’t you think that it would get bored with it’s ‘All Knowingness’ and get disinterested? Could what we are experiencing be the result of that dissatisfaction. And ,isn’t it great fun,if it is?

Apart , of course, from the few details that we have yet to sort out.

I’m sure the starving children in africa are laughing their arses off right now.

@Ragingloli
But the ‘omniscient’ might be relishing it!!?

If there were such a creature, I don’t think we can anthropomorphize it.

There is no “omniscient”. Just those that know more than we.

@lloydbird It’s entirely possibly that there are beings on other planets that might have a higher level of consciousness than we do. If someone like us were to meet such a being, might we mistake that for “omniscient”?

@The_Compassionate_Heretic The ’ Omniscient’ is, naturally ‘Omnipresent’ and ,supposedly, ‘Omnipotent’ as well? Although, I’m not certain about the latter. I don’t know that “Planets” come into it more than trivially. (With respect – to a worthy debater.)

@lloydbird: Look up anthropomorphize. It is a good word to know when you are contemplating an omniscent, omnipresent or omnipotent (no caps or quotes needed: ditto for planets.) entity.

Why are you certain about omniscent and omnipresent and unsure about omnipotent?

(And it’s its.)

lloydbird's avatar

@gailcalled I have an understanding of the word already, although not spelled with a Z.
My ”..contemplating an omniscient, omnipresent or omnipotent…” spelled using lower case letters would, quickly prove to be fruitless. There can, you see, only be one Omniscient, that would be Omnipresent and might be Omnipotent. To speak of “an” omniscient or omnipresent or omnipotent, using lower case spelling misses the greater significance accorded by an applied capitalisation of each term.

As for my ‘uncertainty’ about omnipotence – if you missed the joke, perhaps you should look again. (-:

Oh, and thanks for the grandmatical advice.

Do call again gail.

“There can, you see, only be one Omniscient, that would be Omnipresent and might be Omnipotent”
i see no reason why there could not be multiple entities with these attributes.

lloydbird's avatar

@ragingloli Omnipresence would perhaps be a bar to ”...multiple entities with these attributes.”, the one would merge with the other. Would it not?

ragingloli's avatar

not if they are omnipotent. then they would prevent a merger.

@ragingloli You’ll recall my uncertainty about ‘Omnipotence’ , I imagine, (-:
