An audio video cable for my Laptop?

I’m trying to find a chord that will let me plug my laptop (IBM) into my TV, so that I can watch my saved movies. However, I don’t have an S-video port, and my computer-savy friend says that there’s nothing i can do. Is he right?

sure you can do this. except, its not just a cord. you have to have a device to convert the signal from VGA.
