Why do people want to __HACK__ other peoples accounts ?

Asked by sandystrachan (4417points) July 28th, 2009

Things like Hotmail , Facebook etc…..
I had someone ask me the otherday , if it could be done and how to go about doing it . I said lots of so called hacks are fake , scams and or virus to use them is a risk you have to think about .
When asked why she wanted to hack these accounts she said , “Cause i don’t trust him , we just got back together and he is acting coy with me . I want to find out what he is doing !!!!”
My response was if thats the case whyare you still with him ?
No reply :

Now al i get is help me hack it , can you direct me to hacking it . I just sent a link to a random google search result and said follow the instructions .

But why hack the account to get the information , why not just ASK the person whats going on . Ok you may not get a response , tough shit what they do is up to them if you think something is up ask or leave . Surely that would be a more grown up way to do something

She may feel that if she confronts him, he’ll feel that she’s invading his space. But, if she goes about it the sneaky, hacked-way, and gets away with it; she’ll get the information she wants without the awkwardness.
I’m not saying this is a good thing; because it clearly isn’t and their relationship is obviously unstable, and has zero trust…you’re completely right they should not be togehter if it’s like this.

They hack because they don’t have anything better to do. They do it to snoop and cause problems. (No lurve for hackers.) =P

Even if she gets the information , chances are he would fins out and that would lead to more problems .

I think she’s got issues and needs to find a new boyfriend.
It’s not normal to be that desperate to “hack” someone’s email/social networking account.

I really hate using the term “hack” for “guessing somebody’s myspace password”. It’s like calling every murder a holocaust. A real hacker is someone like Kevin Mitnick

People “hack” because they are being tempted by and succumbing to the dark side of the Force. In other words, they are behaving immaturely.

If you need to spy on someone you love, then it is time to sit down and talk to them about your concerns. And if you want to spy because you can’t trust them, then it’s time to find someone else to love, someone you can trust.

Once, someone I knew got a Facebook alert or something saying that her friend got stranded somewhere and needed money wired to him/her. Turns out the guy hacked into the friend’s account and got all the info from him/her and used it as a ploy. Sneaky, huh?

@Fred931: Wow, that’s like this show i was watching a while back…a mother whose son was on Spring Break in cancun got a call saying that he’d been badly injured, and that 5,000 dollars should be wired to an account so they could ensure his recovery and well-being. Now, the son had zero cell phone signal; so the mother had no real way of knowing that he wasn’t really hurt. She wired the money, and her son came back the next week; unharmed and unaware of the situation. The money and that “account” were gone for good.
