How do I make a brass free reed out of a thin sheet of brass? It is for making a hulusi/bawu type of instrument.

… you want to make a brass free reed out of brass? I’m not familiar with the hulusi/Bawu, but wouldn’t you need to make it out of a seperate material for it to be free of something?

The one I have had a good look at is a very thin sheet of brass around ½” x 1”. There are two lines cut into it forming the two long sides of a thin triangle. this thin slice of pie shaped section of brass is still attached to the rest of the sheet. It is that narrow wedge that is can move freely while the rest of the sheet is around it

ascii “art” image, I can’t seem to change the font, but you may get the idea.
