What is the best way to build your own solar power generator?

Asked by rljackson (1points) July 29th, 2009

I’m looking good info and perhaps illustrated schematics for building my own solar power generator at home. Has anyone heard anything about this website: http://www.efficientplanet.com/?hop=695150

you could get solar panels, or you could get an array of parabol mirrors, focus the sunlight on a pipe filled with water and connect it to a steam powered generator.

It’s easiest to gather parts and build a photovoltaic (solar cell) system. I hear you can get stacks of slightly chipped solar cells for cheap on eBay. Then you will need an inverter to turn the DC from the panels into AC that you can plug into. Or you can make 5 V or 12 V panels and run your gadget chargers straight off of them – no wasteful AC adapters required.
