What movie is this from: "My name is Edgar Fatman, Also known as the fat man."?

Asked by mowens (8403points) July 31st, 2009

I saw the movie years ago on flix, but I have no idea what the name of the movie was. I think it had to do with drag racing.

I just ran a search for ‘Fatman’ on the Internet Movie Database and the only chracter by that name appears in a Metal Gear Solid videogame.

When I searched IMDB for ‘Fat Man’ it came up with the movie Shaft a TV series called EZ Streets.

I hope that one of these is what you’re looking for.

Yeah, that was the first association for me, was with Metal Gear Solid 2. Fatman was a demolitions guy who appears as a boss character in the game. This youtube video (about 4:45 in) shows Fatman’s introduction to Raiden (the main character).

I know this may seem strange but I dont think it was actually his name, he just said it was his name. Granted, I was like 12 when I saw it, so my memory could be a bit hazy. Like I said it was a movie about car racing, and I believe the main car was a black muscle car. either a nova or a chevelle.

Stupid faint memories.

Ok so I found the movie. I dedicated an hour to a google search for it… it was bothering me that much.

I was wrong… the man’s name is Emmit Phatmun.

The movie… is called “Catch me if you can.” It is the 1989 version.

If anyone cares, thats the answer. :)

Oh… I’m glad you figured it out! Wasn’t that the story of the con-artist and check counterfeiter, starring Leo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks? I don’t recall any car racing scenes… but then again, it’s been years since I’ve seen it.

@hearkat You’re thinking of the new one. The Leo DiCaprio version was based off the same story as the 1989 version.

@dUc0N and @mowens:

D’oh!
I even saw that it said 1989; but it didn’t click that it was 20 years ago!

Time flies so fast these days…

These years are smeaking up on me too.

@dUc0n It was the same story? I cant find a DVD to watch this on. :(
