Are you obsessed with the weather?

Asked by erichw1504 (26448points) August 10th, 2009

Am I the only one out there who is obsessed with the weather? I am always watching the Weather Channel, checking the weather on-line, and looking out my window when a storm is approaching. I love to see what the next 10 days holds weather-wise. I can’t wait for the next big storm to hit and hope that it causes some destruction (without losing lives of course). I would love to see a tornado with my own eyes. I love lightening and thunder; the brighter and louder the better!

Is there something wrong with me or am I just amazed with how mother nature works? Anyone else feel the same?

There ain’t a damn thing wrong with ya.

We all look to the heavens – just, some do it more often than others.

Being amazed with this wonderful planet doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you at all! It just means you, unlike a lot of others, appreciate it. I do check weather often. :)

Nothing wrong with you at all. I am about the polar opposite but we all have things that fascinate us.

The only thing you need to worry about is if it started getting in the way of other parts of you life (like the people who play wow so much they don’t pee for hours). It doesn’t sound like thats the case though.

I like all kinds of weather, everything. Hot, cold, wind, rain, snow, hail, cloudy, clear; I love it all. Bring it on.

If you don’t like the weather on this planet, you will have a hard time finding another with better weather.

I was obsessed with it yesterday. Had a bad hail storm come through our area with 70 MPH winds. Destroyed a lot of thuings. We have holes in our siding. A lot of people lost all their windows. Spending today cleaning up the yards.

I always check the weather in the morning to see if there’s any chance that the sun will NOT be out today, but as always my hopes are crushed :(

If you lived in Los Angeles you would be a certifiable lunatic and locked up….it’s always sunny and 80 degrees here. But, since you probably live somewhere where you actually experience weather, I’d say you are OK.

I don’t have the same kind of weather obsession that you do. I do find myself checking the weather a few times every day. Mostly it is to marvel at how wrong forecasters are. It seems with all of our technical advancements, weather forecasting does not seem much more accurate than 100 years ago.

I think you should consider moving to Florida to feed your obsession with the regular chance of tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and more.

Are you kidding me! I love watching the weather whenever I go to San Diego or any other place that’s not my hometown. Let the weather surprise you. It amazes me! :)

My dad watches the “Map-in-motion” constantly. When I was away at school, he’d call to tell me that it was raining/snowing/76degrees where I was, 300 miles away. I never had to check the weather.

I am also amazed by the great, the powerful, the simple, and the beautiful that we are constantly shown through the weather and the glory of all creation. My fave is the overcast breeze just before a rain comes. I can definitely relate to the ap-peal of wall-rattling thunder as well as the desire to witness a non-deadly tornado. That would be amazing.

The one thing you may have to be careful of, however, is not letting this desire to know what’s next come across as a need to be in control. I think there’s something to be said for allowing the weather to surprise you at times, and for enjoying it in the moment.

I’m certainly not obsessed, but I do always know what the weather will be. That’s just a part of being prepared.

Weather amazes me too! I like watching the thunder in the night,I LOVE when it’s raining outside, and I like watching snow fall but then again watching the sun go away makes me sad =-[

Well, I’m not going to lie, I watch the weather all of the time. Since I moved back home about 2 months ago. So since my first full day, the tornado sirens have gone off. There have been a few days that it hasn’t, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I love weather to and I am glad I live in a place where the weather can be scorching hot sunshine one day and then hammering it with hail stones the next! I especially love a good storm and like you I am always checking the weather online. The weather often determines my moods, stormy weather seems to relax me and I don’t enjoy perfect sunshine and blue skies the way many people seem to.

Only during cyclone season when one is brewing nearby! The rest of the time it is either the wet or the dry and both are boringly predictable!

I’m not so much obsessed with it as I am weary of it. When you only get a couple inches of rain per year in the desert, specifically Phoenix, Arizona where I’m at, all that sunshine and heat tends to get a little old after a while. Even with that in mind, though, there’s a lot to like about Arizona so I’m willing to endure my time here in the inferno.

Not obsessed, but it’s good to know what the weather will be. Sometimes this knowledge can save lives, if you’re in the Alps or Rocky Mountains for example.

I’m the same way…I even pay $15/month to belong to Accuweather.com Professional. I’m so upset that Joe Bastardi isn’t there any more…

I have WeatherBug on my computer, it’s free, just go to weatherbug.com
