How do i reinstall itunes without losing all the data?

Asked by Rogwin (5points) August 11th, 2009

When i log on to itunes i get this message: The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing. This happens as a result of installing other cd burning software. Please reinstall itunes.
On my computer I keep my daughter’s cd collection (all 820 of them!) so you will understand i am very cautious about what to do next. Don’t want to lose everything. Be grateful for any advice

Well, you may not have to actually reinstall iTunes.
Try installing the latest GEAR driver first. If that doesn’t work, reinstall iTunes normally. It shouldn’t touch your music.
If you’d rather back it up first just to be extra safe, your music is located at My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music. You can just copy that folder to your desktop or something. Or, to be extra EXTRA safe, back that folder up on an external hard drive.

Get Floola instead.
It’s a better alternative to iTunes.
