How can anyone determine what the “best” middle name is?

marinelife's avatar

What specifically do you want to know about the middle name?

Its meaning? In relation to the first name?

How the two sound together?

sakura's avatar

Try here of course give us the first and last name and we’ll do the rest :)

@erichw1504, at first glance, that Baby Name Genie seemed like a neat idea.

It did, that is, until it suggested Daniel Jerome to me for a boy. And then Grace Lacey for a girl. Wugh.

BTW, Danger is the absolute best middle name.

erichw1504's avatar

@robmandu Just keep hitting the wish button until you find something you like!

limeaide's avatar

@Marina best sounding with the first and last name.

robmandu's avatar

@erichw1504, is it going to ever give me Danger? ツ

Fluther.com is a great site for this! Just tell us the first and last name and the brilliant and talented minds of fluther will come up with a few wonderful middle names!!

limeaide's avatar

@Judi I’d love to but I like some anonymity on here, sorry. How about I give you the first name. The first name we chose is Madison.

This website has a section called Baby’s Named a Bad Bad Thing and will lead you to many, many bad ideas. Hopefully it will be a good lesson in what not to do to your child!

For the rest of you, it makes for some pretty funny reading.

James, Dolly, Oscar, Avenue, Wisconsin do not work well.

Judi's avatar

Can you tell us the first initial and how many syllable’s are in the last name?
You also might want to think of a family middle name.

Sarcasm's avatar

I hear that the middle name Clint gives +15 Strength, while Dave gives +12 Wisdom, Tony gives +17 Charisma and Scott gives +20 Agility.

Sorry I don’t know the specs on female middle names. But I know Marie is pretty common, so it’s gotta have some really sweet stats.

whatthefluther's avatar

@Sarcasm…I think Madison Marie sounds great!

limeaide's avatar

Madison Marie does sound good.

@Judi First name will be Madison, last name 3 syllables. Thanks!

gailcalled's avatar

MIlo does it for me.

The only middle name that is right for a baby is the maiden name of the mother. ~

casheroo's avatar

@YARNLADY Ha! I got my mother’s mothers maiden name for my middle name. Lucky me! We’ll actually be using your “rule” for a future child.

whatthefluther's avatar

—@limeaide…Madison is a great name…my granddaughter is Madyson Skye

YARNLADY's avatar

I am lucky too, my Mother’s maiden name (my middle name) is a lovely name.

Judi's avatar

Then I think the middle name should only have one syllable.

woodfieldmomma's avatar

I like Madison Grace.

Sarcasm's avatar

@YARNLADY Is that actually a standard practice? My brother (First child) got my mother’s maiden name for a middle. I hadn’t ever heard of anybody else doing that.

YARNLADY's avatar

@Sarcasm It used to be a lot more common than it is now.

Judi's avatar

My husband has his mothers maiden name as his middle.

sakura's avatar

I like Marie (that’s my middle name!)
I think Madison Grace sounds nice too @woodfieldmomma (welcome to fluther)
