What's a good place to buy roots and herbs on line.

Asked by dpworkin (27085points) August 13th, 2009

I’d like to brew some root beer, and so far I haven’t found a place that sells sassafras, dandelion and wintergreen root, although each is available at different stores. Is there a place you like with a broader selection of spices, roots and herbs?

Thanks @La_chica_gomela I have. They aren’t expressly for cooks, and thus have a lot of oils and rubs that I don’t want, and have no roots or barks, which I do want.

I have been to this shop. The Herbalist. I know the owner. Their product quality is wonderful. They sell online.

@pdworkin : You can pull up dandelion roots anywhere in your neighborhood; the twigs and bark of black birch supply the wintergreen material. (At least, when I chew on a thin branch from one of the many growing on my property, it tastes of wintergreen. A landscape guy told me that the locals used to make birch beer from black birch.)

Sorry, but I am no help with sassafras.

If you know what you are looking for, eBay is always a good bet. My wife finds many great deals on herbs, roots, rhizomes, seeds, etc.
