Would anyone else like sort capabilities on Fluther?

Asked by limeaide (1921points) August 18th, 2009

I think it would be nice to be able to sort by greatest answer under the questions. I think the default sort should be as it is, but add an option to sort by greatest answer. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

What would determine “greatest answer?”

But you’re talking about quantifying the quality of an answer based on lurve and that is FAR from valid. The questioner only gives ONE lurve. The rest come from others. What good are OTHER’S assessments of the answer? Only the QUESTIONER knows how important certain answers are to HIM.

Oh baby, would I!!! I’d like to be able to sort my private comments by user, and see both my side and their side of the correspondence by date. I’d like to see all my questions and answers sorted by topics. I’d like to be able to download reports like this. I’d like to know who is most similar to me in terms of the number of same questions answered. I’d like to be able to do word counts and word frequency counts by user and by topic.

Oh well. That’s the data geek in me.

how about we sort based on how pretty the avatar is, or who uses the biggest words, or who writes the longest answer?~

Because all of those would be as pointless.

I think the “order” is fine as is.

Well, my avatar would surely be at the top of the list. I mean,
<—just look at it.

@AstroChuck depends on if it’s a priest using Fluther or not.

since Lurve is given freely for anything ranging from a terrific answer to use of a funny word, I don’t think it’d be a very accurate way to sort anything.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it . Fluther is fine the way it is to mess with it would spoil everything.

Sorting by the Lurve score wouldn’t work for many threads, because the timing/sequence of the responses often plays a part in what makes a particular Answer Lurvable.

There is one thing that would go well with fluther , a drop down box as you type a Q so you can see you can see if its been asked already
