Everyday my ear throbs and it gets very annoying!

Asked by imyourbffjess (54points) August 23rd, 2009

Yesterday I was sitting at my desk, and I realized that my ear was throbbing, it was hurting also. I tried cleaning them, but nothing seemed to work. It is getting very annoying, every minute or so it will throb, and hurt like crazy! I need some natural remedies on how to stop hurting of the ear.

Hello, I am an Audiologist. Welcome to Fluther!

You need to have your ear examined by a physician, so that you can have it properly diagnosed and treated appropriately. Do NOT put anything in your ear!! In the meantime, an over-the-counter pain reliever and applying some heat (like a hot water bottle) to that ear might help alleviate some of the discomfort.

If you can give me a detailed account of your symptoms and any related ear, nose and throat history, I might be able to narrow down the possible causes; but regardless, a physical examination is the ONLY way to know what is causing this problem.

No pain (except chldbirth) is worse than an earache. Please get seen before it gets worse.
I hope our Congress gets their act together soon! You need to see a doctor now before this turns into a crisis. How much money would we save if people could see a doctor for an earacheinstead of surgery for a ruptured ear drum?

@imyourbffjess: I am glad it worked. For the record, Sudafed is not a ‘natural’ remedy, which is why it hadn’t been recommended sooner in the thread. You still may want to consult a physician to be evaluated for allergies to see it that is what was causing the congestion and fullness.

I has a feeling he was looking for a way to avoid having to pay for a doctor. Been there a few years ago. It’s not fun.
