Has anyone ever used Chegg.com to rent textbooks?

Asked by jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities (20019points) August 24th, 2009

I’m looking to save some money on college textbooks this semester, and I heard about the website Chegg.com where you can rent books instead of buying them. They are a bit cheaper than Amazon and some other book sites. I was wondering if anybody has had any experience renting books from this site. What quality were the books? If you want to buy them after renting, how much more do they cost?

I haven’t used that one yet, but there’s also this one: BookRenter.com

Chegg is great! I used it last semester. They also give you a discount if you return the book in good condition!
The prices are a lot cheaper
They plant a tree for every book you rent
Sometimes the books come brand new, but the worst condition I have encountered was some wearing on the edges of the book.
They also give you free shipping for your return, so it’s no big deal!
Enjoy!
