What is the best way to scan multiple pages into a PDF document on OS X?

if your scanner doesn’t come with multipage scan to .PDF software the cheap & easy way is to scan each image individually in order then in finder select all the files and open in Preview app. You can then go to File/Print, then click on the save as .pdf button in the bottom left; preview should automatically collate and export those files as a single .pdf

That’s the down and dirty method that I know but others may know an even simpler approach…

Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 has a “scan to PDF” function built in. It doesn’t do OCR (optical character recognition) but it does a nice job of simply grabbing the pages into sharp images and stacking them into one PDF file. If you need to be able to edit the text of your docs, try OmniPage for Mac.
