If you could force one group of people to listen to you for 5 mins. which would you choose?

Asked by Ansible1 (4841points) August 27th, 2009

Suppose you could fill up your local sports stadium with any group of people desired and they were forced to sit there and listen to whatever you had to say. Which would it be?

-child molesters?
-drunk drivers?
-drug dealers?
-government officials?
-religous advocates?
-terrorists?
-dead beat dad’s?
-wife beaters?
-rapists?

who would you choose?

Religious advocates.
I’d pick government officials, but I don’t have enough ideas to speak for 5 minutes to them about.

ABoyNamedBoobs03's avatar

… all of the above? can we do that?

I’d say government officials but what would they care? I’m just a citizen, like they listen to any of us regardless…

I’d say terrorists, but I really wouldn’t want to be surrounded by 70,000 people who want to kill me, or at the very least dislike me with a passion.

I really can’t pick just one group I’d like to verbally berate for 5 minutes.

Zombies
So if anyone spills beer on me I can order them to attack the whole stadium!
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

My kids. All three of them listening at the same time?! That would be awwwwwesooome!

Evangelical Christians. I would explain the theory of evolution to them in real, scientific terms.

All the groups that really need to pay attention never do.

Abused and neglected children so that I might explain that the circumstances they have been placed in are not their fault and describe how they can approach the situation in such a manner that would be beneficial to them. If not abused and neglected children then another group who would find advice and assistance advantageous but are in a position where such is hard to acquire.
Speaking to a stadium accommodated solely by rapists, drunk drivers or any of the other examples offered would be of little benefit in my opinion; such people have already developed habits and routines which are difficult to break without a considerable alteration in lifestyle which is highly likely to be accomplished or encouraged within a time frame of five minutes. If I were to summon such people merely so that I may berate them that would be disrespectful on my part and I would accordingly consider myself to be of less worth than the group in question.

-government officials, assuming they’d actually listen.

No one… I have stage fright.
...besides, I don’t know what I’d tell them anyway =/
the only thing i ever want to tell people is to live and let live, love and let love, be and let be. What more could I say.

Congress- to beg them NOT to pass Orphan Works legislation which could very likely ruin artists who depend on licensing their work for a living.

It would love to talk to people who beat animals and figure out why the hell they feel it’s ok to do. And I would like to share a few words with them. I would also love to get a group of people who are completely anti-American and speak to them as to why they feel the way they do. As a happy go lucky American, I would love to get some outside perspective on the world and the way it works outside of the states.

Meat eaters or dog/cat breeders. They won’t listen though… most are too selfish. If I could talk to any group and what I say actually sink in… it’d be these two.

Evangelical Christians. I would love to explain how they hurt the cause with their closed mindedness, hate speech, and moral failings.

People who actually believe that Communism could work out well for people if it was only “executed correctly”. They are truly among the insane.

I would take all the women that have ever gone on The Bachelor and remind them that ‘no, you can NOT find love that way’

BluRhino's avatar

I already have that opportunity, in my 12-step meetings – which contain a cross-section of those groups and more. The difference is they are not being forced, which means someone might actually hear what is being said.

jonsblond's avatar

Santa and his elves.

Sarcasm's avatar

@jonsblond You gonna finally teach them how to make ponies?

summerlover's avatar

teachers, they have far more power over kids than they realize…what they say matters…most people remember things teachers said positively or negatively and it really influenced them…they may not make a lot of money but they can make a difference in a kid’s life…I’d say, don’t ever give up, don’t ever stop trying..but be positive and encouraging you will make a difference, even if it is only one kid..it is worth it!
