How do I remove gum from leather shoes?

I have gum on the side of one of my leather shoes. How do I remove it?

Put them in the freezer. When they are good and frozen, chip off the gum with a dull knife.

The previous suggesttion should do for most of it. If there are any small pieces left use peanut butter or anything with an oil base.
