What are good websites to check out when you are bored at work?

Asked by Fernspider (3597points) September 3rd, 2009

I am currently bored in my place of employment. I was hoping someone might have some great links to check out to provide me with some mild entertainment.

Depends on whether you want asinine or not. There are tons of dimwitted ones so I’ll put in a few with a slightly higher standard.

The Brunching Shuttlecocks
www.brunching.com
Be sure to check out the archives. Lots of great stuff.

www.verbivore.com
This is Jim Lederer’s site.
He is also known by other titles such as Attila the Pun or Conan the Grammarian among others. Lots of funny literate stuff.

Just remember, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him think. :D

It’s work friendly, nothing risque, nothing too intriguing to passers by and you can change the subjects you quiz yourself on, all for a noble cause.

Fark is a source of nearly infinite distraction and amusement.

I know this site, www.bethankfullyouremployeedbecauseIcan'tfindajobandwouldbehappytotradewithyou.com

Sorry, just venting. I am really sick of looking.

@torch81 Your Fark link is broken… it leads right back to this page. I like to read the news online, so I also suggest CNN.com, etc.

Should you be even surfing the net at work?

tumblr.com is basically the best invention ever, next to fluther.

@Saturated_Brain – We have a lot of down time in our office… sometimes sufficient amounts of work come in, other times we literally have NOTHING to do. Unfortunately, because we never know when new pieces of work may come in we still need to be here.

My boss has said that she is happy for us to serve the net if we have nothing to do.

@Rachienz Ah that makes a lot more sense. Why not just youtube and wikipedia mindlessly? I know I do.
