Are there any good websites that offer free online movies?

Asked by curiousk (128points) September 4th, 2009

I don’t have cable and I recently cancelled my Netflix account because I went back to school. I don’t watch tv much, however sometimes I do get a little bored if I have to stay at home. Does anyone know of any good websites where I can watch movies online for free or any tv shows that might be intersting over the web? I don’t want to worry about viruses though nor do I want to have to download some crazy programs that might harm my computer in the long run.

Youtube has recently started streaming some full movies and TV shows, it is a small selection but some are definitely worth watching.
Hulu offers a wide range of movies and shows, although it does contain commercial interruptions.

If you know which shows you specifically want to watch, a lot of television networks offer full-episode streaming online– check out the websites of Fox , The CW , or ABC to start.

You could re-instate your Netflix and cut your account down to one at a time for only $8.99 a month. I don’t have much time to watch movies anymore, so that’s what I did. I only mail the movie back once a month and watch the rest online.

I also bought the Roku, so I can watch movies on my TV which is much more comfortable than sitting on my computer. Roku is also contracting with Amazon, so you have even more choices. I love it!

To add to whats said already Watch-movies-links and alluc. Watching movies online has become kind of a pain lately. Youku(which most movies are hosted on) is now blocked to people in the US and most other links taken down. It seems the only site that hosts much anymore is megavideo. The problem there is megavideo is a dirty whore bag. You can watch 70minutes and then you have to wait an hour or something before you can resume.
