Is it okay to take airborne the supplement after it's expiration date?

Asked by Palindrome (1084points) September 8th, 2009

I need some airborne and the one tube we have in the house expired 12/08. I’m sure yall know airborne, it helps boost your immune system. Anyways i’m contemplating on whether or not I should drink it.

It’s perfectly OK. It’s useless both before and after expiration.

It won’t hurt you. The stuff doesn’t work when it’s fresh so it won’t make much difference when it’s old either.

From March 2008-
“There is no proof that the popular Airborne assists the health of an individual beyond the effect of a placebo. Airborne has been sued for false advertising and this week the company has agreed to settle the lawsuit and pay $23.3 million. Airborne will soon offer refunds to the people who believed in the product.”

@AstroChuck awww man. lol I actually believed that it helped boost my immune system. I’ve been trying to find stuff to keep my immune system up since everyone at school is like sick and plus the swine flu is going around. No BUENO!

Wash your hands (scrubbing and singing the ABC’s before you rinse). Anitbacterial soap is useless (its been said it is helping to make super germs anyway), and regular soap does as good of a job if you do it properly.

Keep your hands away from your face.

Get some Vitamin C.

Eat healthy in general, and get enough sleep.

I think stress can weaken your immune system too.

@AstroChuck is right though.

Gotta watch out for that stuff. If I remember correctly, herbal supplements aren’t checked up on very well, and some don’t even have the stuff they claim to have in them. If a doctor didn’t tell you to do it, research it to make it 1) it won’t hurt you or interfere with other medications, and 2) that its actually worth your money.

eat plenty of healthy foods, exercise, wash your hands and stay away from sick people. If all else fails, carry a very large can of Lysol and use it to hose down anyone who comes near you and coughs. =)

Airborne has been proven not to work as advertised.
All you’re really getting is a huge dose of vitamin C which in and of itself is actually a fairly decent thing.
The “developed by a school teacher” always made me skeptical, especially considering some of the school teachers I had.

I think it is fine to take it. I also think it doesn’t really do anything to help you. Wash your hands and don’t touch your face.

The best things for your immune system are a healthy diet, exercise and sufficient sleep. That’s what my doctor says.

Unfortunately most all supplements and vitamins are all just slightly effective towards your actual health and immune system. If you wanna be healthy you just need better blood flow, the more blood flow the better your body can deliver everything it needs to stay healthy. Western medicine is aware of this and very careful not to offer products that actually will substantially increase healthy blood flow. If you want to start living life anew, all you need is something that will increase your bodies nitric oxide by a significant amount.. eating a piece of raw garlic and washing it down with a glass of orange juice or other citrus strong in vitamin c will activate one another in your stomach and directly has been shown to increase the bodies nitric oxide, and therefore overall bloodflow, by 200%. I know it sounds too simple and easy to make much a difference at all.. just try it for 2 days.. You can thank me after.
