A letter came through the door today addressed to " Executor(s) of George Wood , Is this a correct way of a letter heading ?

Asked by sandystrachan (4417points) September 10th, 2009

Just so you know no1 here is George or indeed a Wood .
I have never seen a lettered addressed this way before , is it a correct way to send something if so what the hell does it mean ?
Was the people in this house before us trained assassins ?
Normally if the letter is for a minor it says C/O , No ?

An executor is one who carries out the provisions of a deceased person’s will.

It is weird. Whoever is sending the letter knows 1) George Wood is dead, 2) does not know the name of his executor and 3) somehow has associated your address with the estate.

Maybe George Wood died in your house and it’s haunted. This is his ghost’s way of announcing its presence…

@PandoraBoxx If there is such things as ghosts , then we already know its here . The strange noises and things moving is the big giveaway sadly we know ghosts are for tv And it was a single lady who stayed here prior to us , as far as we know anyway ..

We received a similar letter once. I marked it “Return to Sender” in case it was important. I didn’t want to just throw it out.

The guy who had this house before us never filled out a change of address form with the post office. For quite a while, we’d get mail here for him. Not bills, but sometimes things from the IRS, his dentist, the local tax assessor, and assorted junk mail. If it looked important, I’d mark it “Not at this address, return to sender.” If it looked like junk, I’d toss it. After about a year, mail for the previous owner stopped showing up in our mailbox.

It could be a scam letter looking to get money from you or steal your identity. Off hand, I’d say it’s not a legitimate letter becuase, as someone already said, the sender doesn’t even know the specifics because they sent it to a home where this person has never lived, that you know of. To be on the safe side, just return it to the sender unopened.

When he was alive, George Wood lived in Rosehearty.
