Is a Twitter username all in caps symptomatic of an overinflated ego?

Asked by rexpresso (922points) September 15th, 2009 from IM

A friend has this username, LIKETHISYOUKNOW? I wonder if you see a similar pattern somewhere?

Or poor keyboarding skills.

IMHO, just having a twitter account = an over-inflated ego. Caps, or no caps.

@zen is probably right! Ha!

Mine has caps in the front of it, but it specifically symbolizes the first names of the people in my family

Do what I did. Reassign his keyboard mapping to prevent Caps Lock from working. Make it print this instead ”” when he tries to lock caps. He will soon get tired of holding the shift key down manually.

I don’t use twitter, but on the computer I use all caps because the R and the N in my name run together in regular type, making people think I am fond of yams (YAMS) rather than yarn (YARN).

It looks that way to others, whether it is or not.

Yams are good things – I like them.

@DarkScribe I have nothing against yams, I like them, but I am not the yamlady. I use my name to facilitate receiving donations of y a r n for the charity gifts I make from donated items, and vegetable gifts don’t last long.

Aha! I wondered, I had supposed that you were either “knitting obsessed” or very talkative. :)

I have no yarn, but I do have a 1800s spinning wheel and a lot of fleece. One day when I am in my dotage I might consider discovering how to use it. At the moment my creative energy goes into cabinet making, antique restoration and boat building/repair.

I think its usually Ego, or newness to the internet, or being teenaged… are the 3 main causes, but there is also the fourth possibility of a person somehow feeling he is making things easy for everyone to put his name in caps, and maybe he thinks everyone should put their name in caps.

Hey!! My username is in all caps. Are you trying to say something about me?? Huh??!! You better not be!! Everyone is trying to get on my case!!

I hope you know I’m just kidding I don’t have a big ego.

Man that’s annoying

I have a twitter account but a non existent ego, mind you my username isn’t in caps either, don’t think it means anything, people type how they type. I am one of those annoying people though who sends 3 page texts because I can’t bear txt speak, everything is written out in full. I have a friend who is exactly the same so if I’m odd I know I’m in good company :-) hugs xx

@bunnygrl I also write many-page texts all in full! Maybe we’re clones :-)
