I want a good IM program with MSN for Mac, any suggestions?

Asked by _fonzo (67points) September 18th, 2009

MSN Messenger for Mac doesn’t support webcam chat, “handwritten” features, among other things I’m used to work with on MSN. So, any suggestion of a good IM program?

I don’t think you’ll find a Mac client for MSN other than the Microsoft-made one, and definitely not one that supports webcam chat.

Edit: At least, I’ve never come across another MSN app. The MSN protocol is notoriously finicky, so I don’t imagine that a 3rd party client would work above basic features.

Hands down Adium is the way to go. It doesn’t yet have video capabilities, but the developers are working on it. Libpurple (what the architecture is built off of) has just incorporated video chat. Within the next few builds chat should become available.

@cosmosheep Yeah, but, unfortunately, Adium does not support AV (audio and video) chat. :/

If you want webcam/video chat capabilities on Mac, you gotta go with iChat or Skype.

both way better than MSN. I use Adium for everything, and skype for video when i need it.
