Why does my iPhone tell me I have unread emails when I don't?

Asked by ezraglenn (3502points) January 24th, 2008

Since I updated to whatever the new version of firmware is, my iPhone tells me I have unread emails (shows a number in a red circle on the little envelope on the home screen) when I don’t. I use IMAP with Gmail.

I would double check your sever side settings. Try re-entering them to Gmail’s current iPhone specs. If that doesn’t work, it’s clearly a software bug which calls for a restore of the iPhone.

THis is an irritation, and it frustrates me too.

You have to go to GMail and click “Mark All As Read” in order for the iPhone to see them as unread too.
