Actually, there is quite a bit of technology behind the site. Someone more computer brained than I would have to explain it, but there are some features that make Fluther really stand out. Plus, we have a great community here. Welcome to Fluther!

Hi @hddfg! Welcome to the site. You might want to verify your email instead of putting in a random string of garbledygook.

[mod says] Let’s stick to the topic folks. Bad founder, bad, bad.

Seriously: We raised money based on our traffic, our technology, our vision, our team, and our community. That’s pretty much it.

I’m a consistent contributor and it’s also a tax write-off. Win-win situation.~

This is not a cold site with stiff regimens, tho there are some fair and reasonable rules to keep things moving and in order. It is a very cozy, warm and comfortable site reflective of the care and love the founders put into it’s creation and continue to put into it’s improvements. Members are respected by Bendrew and are not inundated with the level of advertisements a guest faces. This is a community of a very diverse group of jellies dedicated to the site and each other that will go the extra distance to assist another jelly in need. Bendrew probably does well financially on the site (like several weeks in a private flat in Paris, recently) but this site has never been all about money and doesn’t even hint at such a thing, in my opinion. Welcome to fluther and please make yourself comfortable. You will learn lots and laugh a lot here and the lurve you get will far exceed the lurve you give. See you around….Gary aka @whatthefluther aka wtf

Yeah I was just about to ask a question like this one. How does FLuther make their money? They dont have enough merchandise to support themselves like Roosterteeth or KOL.

i figured the 600 large was mostly because i’m here and i make everything fun and exciting. right?

augustlan's avatar

@Bugabear We have advertisements on the site, but in an unobtrusive way.

@Bugabear We have ads for our logged out users. We don’t show them to our members.

In light of the most recent blog post, I retract my previous answer, and defer to the blog.

Is the business plan private? If so, are there any general outlines you could tell us about? What’s the plan for this site? How will you make money off of it?
