Which album not by U2 sounds most like U2's "The Unforgettable Fire"?

Asked by thanatos (324points) September 25th, 2009

The Unforgettable Fire is my favorite U2 album.

Specifically I like Brian Eno’s guitar “treatments”, the epic expansiveness of the sound but at the same time the feeling of a live recording rather than a studio experiment.

Does anyone know of another album by a different group that bears any resemblance to this album?

The great thing about that period of U2 is that there isn’t anything that sounds like them.
All the great bands succeed at making a sound that cannot be easily duplicated.

I’m giving it a GA to give you some lurve, and welcome to fluther. But I agree with @The_Compassionate_Heretic and fear you won’t be getting many replies here. It was a unique experience, imho.
