Why are there no Republicans on the internet?

Asked by neonez (389points) January 26th, 2008

I know thats not strictly true even when one isn’t counting Ron Paul’s fallowing but it seems to me that 90% of people you see in the tubes are republican.

I don’t understand what you’re asking. Your question seems to contradict the details you gave for it. Please elaborate.

It’s because the majority of Republican people are either not as willing to share their opinions on the web or they aren’t connected in the first place.

Wrong..Every Rep. senator and member of the House of Representatives has a website; as does the party; as does most of the states’ legislators. I haven’t checked out the governors, but I would bet that they are connected.

For example: http://www.senaterepublicans.ct.gov/

gailcalled: Only because its the standard to do so.
phoenyx: oops sorry, the last word is supposed to be democrat not republican

what I meant was that it seems to me that the huge majority of online communities (i.e. forums, blogs and such) generally have much more democrats involved. If you have found otherwise by all means say so. my question was asking why this is.

Im a conservative republican, 27 years old in New Hampshire. People don’t really dig deep enough into politics to really get a good grip on certain things. I’m not bashing anyone but a lot of people online are young and don’t even know about the simplest of political reasoning.
So there are a lot of republicans online they just don’t come to places like this because like myself there usually too busy working 12 hour days 6 days a week until they don’t have to anymore and to improve there life.

Sorry neonez, I should have realized there was a typo.

Some totally unscientific data:
democrat blog: 351,000 results
republican blog: 1,750,000 results
democrat forum: 679,000 results
republican forum: 489,000 results

There could be all kinds of reasons, but I think it at least shows that there are Republicans “on the tubes.”

wallar & pheonyx: :D Well, way to prove me wrong. My inclination may have been derived from the audiences of websites and online communities that I regular.

gail: I mean that it would be unacceptable for a candidate to have a website. The internet is an extremely handy and useful medium. The question was directed more towards sites with large communities.

There are more democrats on the internet because the internet is for smart people and most republicans are dumb.

Let the attacks fly. I can take it.

There are republicans on the internet, and all they do is whine about the issues of the electronic era.

I guess republicans have the market cornered on working long days and long weeks. And, evidently, the slaughtering of defenseless marsupials, wallarookiller. As a liberal graduate student, I tend to work 12+ hour days, sometimes 7 days a week, yet I still have time to look at sites like this to decompress a bit. Being in school this long I also pick up a few things about spelling and grammar (“and to improve there life”).

@breedmitch…thank you for demonstrating that liberals and democrats can be just as judgmental, self righteous and closed minded as republicans!!!! Great job!
