Can you recommend a particular nursing school in Portland, OR?

Asked by simone54 (7629points) September 27th, 2009

I’m thinking about going to nursing school in or near Portland when I finish my prereqs here in California. What’s the situation up there? Is there a lot of good schools? Is there a ridiculous wait list for all of them?

What happened to your Seattle plan of a few days ago? Like I said, UW is the top-ranked school in the nation. You also have Seattle U, another great school with an excellent nursing program. Listen, I’m not joshing you when I say that Seattle is where it’s at!

Don’t give up so easily. If you keep moving southward you will be back in California before you have even left.

hahhah I didn’t give up on anything. I haven’t decided on where I want to move. Expect a Chicago one too.

Fair enough. I have actually never been to Portland, so I can’t really talk too much smack. My friends tell me I would love it. I just think Seattle is amazing; it has everything one could want and is so incredibly beautiful. It is important to keep your options open. I didn’t get into the one Chicago school I applied to, but I’ve heard it is an amazing place.

@peedub If you love Seattle, you would love Portland, too.

@DrasticDreamer That’s what I hear. I need to go there already. I wonder if I would like it more? My friend that visit and or tour both places frequently, are more or less divided on the two places.

@peedub Yeah, it’s a hard decision for a lot of people to make. Seattle has more people, therefore more of a nightlife kind of feel, but Portland also has it – just on a smaller, more laid back kinda feel. They both have the same kind of people and general mentality, though. :)

Let’s not get off topic…

Two great schools in Oregon:

1. [Ranked #7 by U.S. News] Oregon Health and Science University

2. [Ranked #72 by U.S. News] University of Portland

U.S. News Rankings. I wouldn’t base your decisions on these, but they may give you a good starting point in considering programs across the nation.
